I have worms! I have worms!

Woohoooooo! Happy dance time!

Moved my mulch aside to plant some beetroot seeds and the soil was wriggling with earth worms! Not one, not two but heaps!

I am doing something right :)

Cheryl you have no idea how happy I am right now.

The 'soil' at Wit's End was dry, greyish sand when we bought the place. Water repellant and no body to it at all.

This is the very first time I have seen even a single worm!

Yay, great news!

you know, they have drugs for that LOL!

Seriously, great going - I know what a challenge the sand can be - sounds like you've improved your soil's vitality a thousand-fold . . and that means great produce!

I obviously didn't realise how bad your soil was.....I know how difficult that is. My Dad had a garden with sandy soil, more sand than anything else. It took him years improve it.....he to loved his veggies.
I hope more worms arrive and increase your happiness ten fold.

I have to say, I'd be excited about that too. :) It took all I the restraint I have, however, not to say the same thing as naturewitch, lol. Glad someone did it though.

I have a question. Are you the same Crone as http://thecronescauldron.blogspot.com/?

Yep - she's a fabulous gardener AND cook. Wish some of it would rub off on me!

Oh and congrats on the worms - I've seen what you had to start with - it's a major achievement.
