The Crone has dyed her hair

I finally decided to dye my hair on Saturday. Since I gave up on chemical dyes a couple of years ago, the whites have gotten more and more visible. It was a dilemma for me; to dye or not to dye?

After my coffee morning with the LMS (like minded souls) I came home all inspired and brewed up the batch of henna powder which I bought a few months ago from an Asian grocery store.

You know what, it smells like very very suspicious! It also feels like thick goopey warm baby poop on your scalp! But it works :)

I am now a nice shade of auburn for the exhorbitant amount of $1.25 :)

$1.25! I won't tell you how much I paid for my hair colour this afternoon - unfortunately henna doesn't come in the right colour for me :P

Hi Crone

Yippee for you! I'm sure the henna will look beautiful on you. And DH can't exactly complain about the cost, can he?

I'm with Molly - trying to grow my colours out too, much to the disgruntlement of my hairdresser! She keeps trying to convince me that either I have to keep getting blonde foils or get the hair dyed back. I just want to grow it out.

Then I'll put beetroot juice in my hair - I'm told it goes a nice shade of purple. But I do worry about whether I might get a purple face in the process? LOL! And I'm thinking of grabbing some hair from my brush to try as a test first. xx

LOL @ us!
I admit I did go the chemical version, and it cost me a grand total of $30 (I bought a spare colour - purple red - just in case I stuffed it).

Good for you Crone! I haven't tried the henna thing before - you can't use chemical dyes after it can you - until it grows out or something?
I've been curious about it - maybe I'll see how yours turned out at our next get together and decide then!
A photo would be good though! (Is the peer pressure getting to you yet!)

Yeah, where's the photo?

I use henna, too :), but try to wait until my friendly hairdresser can put it in because I'm such a klutz. I mix my own shades from brown and red and really like to way it conditions :).
