Heart on my sleeve here

If your child goes to school with a kid who is on the autism spectrum, can you please invite the ASD child to your child's birthday party.

It sucks big time to have a child who never gets invites to parties because they are 'different'.

Just thought I would add that my ASD child is a girl :)

Hi Crone,

Really what are people thinking... what happened to a couple or everyone.

I have to say that just must tear your boy apart. If he has behaviour issues related to the disorder I would invite child + Mum but to leave him out if everyone else is being invited is just not on.

Kind Regards
Belinda

Oh Crone that is heartbreaking... I cannot believe people can be so callous. :-( My DS had a birthday party a week ago, and we absolutely invited a boy with ASD, didn't cross our minds ever not to. To hear some that others wouldn't do this makes me very sad. I must admit this boy is the younger brother of my DS' good friends, but he did not think twice about inviting him, there would never be any doubt that he would be included, as he is part of DS' circle of friends.. The kids don't even think there is anything majorly 'different' about him, thank goodness..

I am so sorry that your son hasn't been invited..I can only hope this changes in the near future. Love & light to you both :)

My children invited all the class for their birthdays (remember, I live in the sticks, that numbered about 15-20 children)

Over the years thats included children with downs syndrome, ADD/ADHD, varying degrees of autism and some with behavioural problems.

I would never have thought of doing it any differently, nor would my children have.

I am sorry some are thoughtless Lara, I know as a Mum that has to hurt like hell....hugz

That post makes me feel ashamed to be part of the human race. I know a young woman who has a child with serious learning difficulties. He is always welcome at my house and my daughters. You would be amazed how many people conveniently forget him.
I feel sad for you and your little one.......shame on those people...

Just wanted to send you some hugs Lara. ((()))

My oldest boy has Asp too. I love him so much and I wish other people could see the wonderful things inside him, and not just the things they don't understand.

Oops,

Sorry bout that I really should read the archives before assigning other peoples children genders. Who knows why but for some strange reason the picture in my head had you with mainly boys.

Kind Regards
Belinda

Thank you all so much for your comments.

You know I nearly deleted my post because I felt I was having a OTT sooky moment but K from the wildbackyard told me to leave it. She felt that it was one more way of getting an important message out.

Belinda, no problems re: the gender, actually ASD's are four times more likely to present in boys than in girls, so it was a natural assumption to make :)

{{{HUGS}}} mate :-( My niece has various developmental delays and it breaks my heart when she regularly gets left out of such things...
