A living planet? Not for much longer (Oct 29th 2008)

The World Wildlife Fund has released its 48 page 'living planet report'. The outlook is not good but surely this won't come as a surprise to anyone. We cannot keep consuming at the level we are currently consuming and unless someone has another planet hidden somewhere, this is going to affect all of us.

Well, it will affect some of us more than others.

The third world populations won't stand a snowflakes chance will they. Come on, be honest now. We have a hard enough time sharing what we currently have and nothing will convince me that the First World will open their hearts once things get worse.

Whose child gets to survive in our future world?

It really is this side of the issue that makes me scared.

If I truly believed that everyone would automatically form communities as times get tough… and understand the fact that taking from others is only bankrupting ourselves I would certainly sleep better at night.

Kind Regards
Belinda

Hi Crone

Thanks for the link to the report - definitely on my reading list. You are absolutely right - it won’t be a living planet for much longer if we don’t take drastic steps now.

And I haven’t forgotten the doll pattern - will try to scan and copy this weekend. xx
