School holidays coming to an end (Jan 29th 2009)

I know that I've been a bit quiet lately but I've been head down, learning stuff and making things. The book fairy has been dropping presents off nearly every week (much to my horror when I remind myself that I am supposed to be saving money, not spending), but I am only getting books which add to my store of knowledge;

Wild Fermentation
Artisan bread in five minutes a day
The big book of preserving the harvest
Made another batch of feta and ricotta today, gervais a few days ago, kim chee pickles in the crock (The Husband didn't fancy sauerkraut but liked the idea of kim chee), jams coming out of my ears and three amazing master batches of dough from the artisan bread book. It's no wonder I've not had time for blogging.

I sort of did a stupid thing on Tuesday as well. My Graves Disease is really playing up at the moment but I had an energy burst on Tues. That small burst of energy was enough to get me out into the garden to overhaul one of the strawbale beds (the one which totally fried in the heatwave). Yeah, yeah I paid for it on Wednesday as I could barely get out of bed :( So here we go, it's now Friday and I haven't finished a job which should have taken me only a couple of hours.

Did anyone hear the news in Perth last night? Electricity prices are set to increase 50% over the next few years. Really makes me glad that we now have this

Hopefully our PV panels and the solar HWS will keep our bills manageable.

Look after yourself my dear, or you’ll really burn out! Trust me LOL.

I s’pose you haven’t received your first bill since you had the SHW and the PV’s put in? Will be interesting (and exciting!) to see how much you guys will be saving. I wish we qualified for at least one of the various rebates

Hey Crone

Please look after yourself; the garden bed will wait. Hopefully this heat wave will be over soon and you can work in more civilised conditions.

Bad news about the electricity costs, but at least you’ve buffered yourselves. We don’t qualify for the rebates, either but I’d love to be providing our own electricity.

Keep well, gorgeous soul. xx

Prices for utilities are going up all over the world.You are lucky to live somewhere the sun shines for solar panels!We have to have the heating on for months of the year it is so damp and cold.Then your downside is when it gets too hot to do anything. look after yourself

Oh Peggy I know. I was replying here to you but it got so long and convoluted that I just did another post.
