Global toasting? Hey at least it's quicker than Global Warming (28th June 2009)

Doomer alert, doomer alert!

Recently saw the movie ‘Knowing’ which is basically about an ELE caused by Solar Flares. Not going to happen? Ha!! Well NASA seems to think that it’s a very real possibility here

And here’s an article from New Scientist

So, on a good Solar Flare day, we can expect the grid to be knocked out for several hours, on a bad day “Goodbye Mortgage, Goodbye World!”

Edited to add: You know what, we can prepare for most things in life but I’ve realised that if I get so caught up in worrying about what might happen in the future, I’m going to miss most of the things happening today. With all the Doomer movies coming out it’s easy to forget that for the majority of us, our lives are really blessed. So by all means stock up on your seeds, plant your plants, but stay in the real world, the here and now

Hi Crone,

I have to agree with you.. there are things we just can’t plan for and worrying about the possibilities causes ulcers and not change.

I have always taken the position that it isn’t my job to change the world to what I think it should be.. but it is my job to keep throwing ideas out there and see if any of them stick to make the world a more positive place.

Kind Regards
Belinda

Heh, my hubby L is Mr Doom and Gloom himself.
Me? I take each day as it comes and I’m happy with what I have.

Strangely, I have found that the more doom&gloom talk that happens the more pro active my husband becomes, and he gets excited about what he’s doing. By the end of the summer we will have a converted Chest Freezer/Refrigerator that will save us $300/year, a solar heating unit installed for next winter, we’ll finally have our chickens, and our 5 apple trees. I take it all with a grain of salt, and smile at the good things it brings to light.

Well, personally, I have started to dig out a bunker and plan to line it in Lead to stop the radiation … hahahahahahahahaha.

Not much one can do about or prepare for ELE, which is depressing. However, I will be spending 21 Dec 2012 on top of Ayers Rock : )

I just watched this movie also (love Nick Cage!), and it really does give you something to think about! Pretty scary stuff.

My dad thinks movies like these are made to prepare us or our subconscious for these possibilities ahead of time.

He is definitely a doomer and it had always irritated me that he always looks straight away to the worst case scenario for everything - however he has been right on many occassions so I do listen to him.
